The Writing Hour

About this event

Inspired by the popular sessions run by Linda France as part of her Climate Writing Residency, we’re continuing to open a free and friendly online space for anyone to come and write for an hour.

Dedicating and protecting an hour of time is a simple but powerful way of conquering the empty page. You can come with an open mind and make use of optional writing prompts, or bring your work-in-progress and settle in to focus for an hour, alongside fellow writers of all kinds and experiences.

No one will be asked to share their work – just a sense of solidarity with other writers as we work quietly in each other’s company and carve out a space in our day for writing.

Hosted by New Writing North, the literature development agency for the North of England. Each month we will also provide info about upcoming opportunities and events for writers.

A Zoom-generated transcript and captions will be provided. We encourage people to have their cameras on, though this is optional of course, and mics are to be kept muted to allow for a distraction-free writing environment. A member of NWN staff will be available via chat throughout the session.

Please only book a free ticket if you know you are definitely able to attend that date – there are limited spaces each month, and this will help prevent others from missing out.
